A Tuxedo That’s Yours, Start to Finish: The Waring Approach to Custom Tuxedos
Renting a tuxedo makes economic sense for many customers – and our premium rentals blend in beautifully with the finest tuxedos in a crowd. There are times, however, when it’s worth investing in something that’s truly yours.
The Waring Tuxedos Custom Program offers an elevated experience for you to design your own garment – and enjoy the process. We always have a fine single malt nearby.
Whether you're commissioning a wedding tuxedo, selecting as sport coat, or simply building a wardrobe, our made-to-measure offerings ensure a perfect fit, cut and tailored in Italy from the best fabrics in the world.
Cloth from Europe’s Finest Mills
Every great garment begins with exceptional fabric. That’s why we offer selections from the world’s most renowned mills, including:
• Loro Piana – Known for their luxurious cashmeres, tropical wools, and ultra-soft worsteds, Loro Piana cloths are synonymous with sophistication and drape,
• Vitale Barberis Canonico (VBC) – One of the oldest mills in the world, VBC produces versatile, elegant wools with a clean hand and classic patterns,
• Scabal – a Belgian firm with strong British presence on Savile Row, blending British heritage with contemporary refinement, offering everything from business-ready classics to bolder seasonal options, and
• Holland & Sherry – Woven in the UK since 1836, these cloths are dry in hand and full of character — with lighter fabrics ideal for Texas heat and heavier tweeds perfect for “Rodeo weather.”
We also have access to seasonal fabric bunches from Ariston, Caccioppoli, Drapers, Dormeuil, Carnet, and other leading Italian and British mills.
A Personalized Process, Rooted in Quality and Expertise
Our custom experience is designed to be relaxed, refined, and rooted in quality and expertise. We don’t just take rough measurements and ship them off – we guide you through every stage.
You’ll begin by perusing fabrics over a coffee or a glass of whisky. We’ll ask a few questions about where and how you’ll wear the piece — whether it’s for business, a wedding, travel, or everyday use.
What garments are in your wardrobe currently? Is the bold pattern that caught your eye one you’ll actually wear, or would you be better suited in a more versatile navy sold or subtle plaid? If you’re a blue person and everything in your closet is blue, are you really going to wear a bright green?
These sorts of questions help decide the direction of the commission and ensure you select something with which you’ll be pleased.
Next, we walk you through design details:
• Lapel styles – notch, peak, or shawl, with widths that complement your frame,
• Pocket configurations – from casual patch pockets to clean besom or traditional flap,
• Lining options – fully lined, half lined, or unlined — in tonal hues or bold patterns,
• Waistbands, pleats, cuffs – everything from forward pleats and side tabs to clean flat fronts,
• Hand-finishing – optional pick stitching, hand-sewn buttonholes, and Milanese lapel details.
Finally, we’ll focus on fit:
We begin your fitting with try-on garments – fully finished samples in standard sizes, so you can feel the silhouette and make adjustments to the pattern. We use these garments to dial in fit and proportion, ensuring your order reflects both your measurements and your preferences. The try-on garments provide a foundation from which to alter a pattern to your unique specifications.
Once your selections are finalized, your garments are cut and sewn in a century-old, family-owned workshop in Italy. A few weeks later, they arrive at our store, ready for a fitting and any final alterations handled by our in-house tailor.
Whether you're looking for a navy hopsack blazer, a wedding tuxedo with grosgrain facings, or a lightweight linen suit for travel, our custom program allows you to build exactly what you need.
Why Custom? And Why Waring Tuxedos?
Custom clothing offers more than just a better fit. It offers freedom and individuality. The fabrics and details you choose reflect your personality. As a result, your garment becomes an extension of who you are. Your name will be embroidered onto it.
At Waring Tuxedos, we are committed to your satisfaction, not just getting a sale. With our expert staff to advise your selections and skilled tailor on-site, we are here to ensure your money is well spent on a garment you will enjoy. We don’t cut corners, and we don’t believe in “good enough.” We believe your jacket should close cleanly without pulling, your trousers should break just right, and your experience should be as comfortable as the finished garment.
It's all about the Customer
Custom garments are ideal for men who want to dress well without fuss. Grooms looking for something more refined than a rental, professionals tired of suits that still never fit quite fit, fathers of the bride who want to look polished but not overly formal, or simply the man who values items made with pride and purpose.
Many of our clients order a single sport coat to start. Others return season after season for suits and trousers. Either way, they come back for the same reason: because it’s personal, they trust our expertise, and they trust we won’t take advantage of them.
